the big day is almost here!! i am SO excited to be capturing your wedding day and i want to make sure it goes oh so flawlessly!
i usually start with details photos right when I arrive, so to help the process the best thing to do is to have all your details ready to go and in one spot for when I get there!
I love to share my whole list of ideas for you to have on your wedding day, both to not forget in general, and also to have together for me to photograph your gorgeous flat lay detail photos at the start of your wedding day!!
I like to approach flat lays with a few separate “sets’. The Invites, each partners details, and the simple shot of the rings + heirloom items.
Starting with the invitation suite with any and all goodies that help tell your story – a base of your entire invite suite with extras like a few vintage stamps from my collection, all the rings and a few accessories from both partners that help show some details of the day, and any heirloom items pulled together with floral springs and petals or greenery. I use my flat lay boards and fabrics to create a backdrop that fits the theme and style everything together to create a full set of your day!! A general rule I live by, told me me by a stationer friend, I don’t mix paper goods and shoes – just makes sense!
I get each partners details, I will take each pair of shoes and style them with that partners accessories and items of the day! Like any jewelry, watches, rings, hats, handkerchiefs, ties, socks, etc! Then do it again with the other partners items! I love for each partners set to either match, or contrast perfectly!
A final comprehensive list of items to have all together at the start of your big day:
Invitation Suite
-save the dates and invites with all the pieces like details cards, rsvp cards, and feel free to include a few of each especially if they have info on both sides! make sure to include any little goodies that go with these, like the envelopes and belly bands you might have included on them when you sent them out!
-florals!!! I love to use flowers in my invite flat lays, it really brings out all the textures and colors of the day and adds so much depth! Ask your florist to add on some sprigs for photos, they make such a difference!
For each partner:
-shoes
-any jewelry you will be wearing throughout the day; earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hair pins, barrettes, anything at all!
-veils or hats, or other head wear
-any special items like your something blue, borrowed, new and old, or other heirlooms like passed down jewelry or handkerchiefs
-your rings!! all the engagement and wedding bands please!
-any letters, gifts, or important items you’d like photos of!
sincerely, jules
